    Hey everyone!

So I bought my Yellow Watchman Goby about a week ago from my LFS. When I took it home I realized that one of its fin was split in half, while the other was fine. He was acting normal, however, so i thought he would be ok.

Well today I saw that he was out of his burrow so I snuck over to take a look at him and saw that his whole fin was gone!!!! The base of where his fin would be is a light pink.

Anyone know what could be wrong? Fin rot? Will he be ok? He is still "walking" along the bottom just fine.

Well, I'll tell you what I would do. It may not be right but I would just keep him and spot feed near his burrow. If it will eat it might be ok.

thanks for the response! yeah that is what I have been doing. He eats OK but not a lot, and does not venture out to get food.

just checked him out today and his "stump" is now red. It literally looks like another fish took a big bite out of his fin. IDK what I should do guys! He is the ONLY fish in the tank.

idk if he will be growing this fin back but is he getting cut when you goes in his cave that he made, just thinking that is goes from pink to red in the next day.

try moving the rock around so he picks a new spot.

Sounds like a bacterial infection or a predator. Sounds like you just got him, is he in QT? If not it's probably safest to remove him and put him in a QT. There you can treat with wide spectrum antibiotics. Sometimes improving water alone will help, but most effective to treat in a QT tank though.
