I was wondering what the benifites are to doing a water change if the peramaters are good. Just want to know. I am doing my water changes every 2 weeks and everything is good. But do some pepole stretch out the time to like once a month based on the water testing?

It really depends on the size of the tank imo.

You should be fine doing it every two weeks with your 65g, if the water params are fine though of course.

IMO, it depends how stocked you are. WC's are good to do even if your paras are great. Remember that by WC, you are exporting orangics and algae spores that you dont want. If you have a lite bio load, then you can get away with once every 2-3 weeks. If your over stocked like me, once a week. IMO, you can never go wrong by doing WC even if your paras are good.

    Water Changes
One of the simplest things you can do to keep your aquarium healthy is perform regular water changes. As the fish in your tank consume food and produce waste, contaminants such as nitrates and phosphates build up in your water. By occasionally taking out some of that dirty water and replacing it with freshly mixed saltwater, you remove some of those contaminants. Typically, it is recommended that you change out 20% of your water every one to two weeks, depending on how heavily your tank is stocked. (If you have more fish in your tank, they produce more waste and therefore require more frequent water changes.) To figure out exactly how often you should be changing your water, periodically test the nitrate levels. Whenever the nitrates are getting close to 20 ppm, it's probably time for a water change. If you are using a DSB, other contaminants may continue to rise while nitrates stay low--so they are not necessarily a good indicator in usch situations. Instead, make a habit of changing the water every 1-2 weeks.
To do a water change, mix up enough saltwater to replace 20% of your tank's volume. Make sure the salinity closely matches that of your tank. Add buffer to match the pH of the new water to that of your tank. Make sure to mix the water well so that the salt and buffer are dissolved. Allow this water to sit for at least 24 hours with a heater set to match the temperature of the aquarium. This allows everything to fully dissolve, stabilizing the water chemistry. Before making your change, once again check the temperature, salinity and pH to make sure that they are still closely matched to the conditions of the tank.
Take a container identical to the one in which you have mixed your water and siphon water from the tank into it until you have removed the same amount of water you are about to put in. You can save yourself some time here by siphoning the water in with your gravel vacuum. This way you clean the substrate and remove the old water at the same time instead of performing these tasks separately. Once the water is removed, either pour the new water in, or use a water pump and some tubing to pump it into your tank. Your water change is complete.

Its a monkey made out of towels. When you go on a cruise, they make all kinds of animals out of towels every day. My kids loved them and had a blast. Luna

Thanks guys I knew i would be able to have a few good answers quickly. I ordered new salt (Instant Ocean reef crystals) and it arrived this week. I am mixing up a new batch now for the water change. I hope it will get my Xenea pulsing again.
