    So I have a 55g Fowler and I'm changeing 20% of my water anyone have thoughts or opinions on this amount

    I do 20% monthly.

    That should be plenty. I do 5% weekly.

    Honestly I would say percentage is probably a little higher since a 55 doesn't hold 55g and that's what I based my calculation on I forget what a 55 holds?

    Take into consideration the thickness of your glass, sump volume and water displacement due to rocks, sand and equipment. I don't know how much LR etc you have but a rough estimate, I would think about 50 gallons total.

    With a FOWLR, you only need to change water to remove nutrients, otherwise you're just wasting time and salt. What are your Nitrate and Phosphate levels before a water change?
