    Is the tank over stocked, under stocked?

    When you do your water changes, the new water should be as close to the tank water chemistry as possible. Use a salt that already contains the balance you want. You start to dose when your corals begin to use more than you are replacing with water changes. A young tank, or softie tank probably won't need any dosing. Always dose a balance of both calcium and alkalinity. Never just one.
