I was going to do a water change today but yesterday my powder blue tang got sick. Should I not do it because it may stress him more with the new water?

You need at least 5 weeks, of a constant 1.009 SG to complete your hyposalinity treatment.

the fish wont be stressed from the new water per say, if anything a cleaner environemnt is always better. what he might stress out about are youre movements while you do this water change, sudden movements etc.

at least untill he gets use to your habbits, i cant help you in regards to hyposalinity as i have never tried it before.

You're partly correct- you will actually have DEAD coral. Hypo should only be done in QT/HT, but definitely never the main tank with corals and/or inverts.

As long as you ensure that parameters are the same, cleaner water will never hurt anything.

Did a 15 gallon change 10 days ago was gonna do the same tonight. I might do it after the lights go out to not stress him. They all hide in the rocks when the lights go out.

We mean take the Tang out and put it in a different tank with 1.009 SG for 5 weeks. I would recommend a 40 breeder for the quarantine, since the Tang will get stressed more with anything smaller.
