Hey guys, whats best for a mixed reef tank? everyday 1-2% wc or weekely 10% wc or monthly 25% wc? a local reefer in my city changes water weekely 10% using redsea coral pro salt and dosent dose anything else. his hard corals growthrate is slow but there are no die offs. I dont want fast growth too due to the tank size. any further advise? is anyone doing this? iv been changing 5% weekely

+1 that's what I do. 10% a week and using Redsea coral pro salt. Don't dose anything else.

5% weekly for me at present , also using Red Sea coral pro

all the methods described are acceptable though
some choose to do fortnightly, some choose monthly
and there are a number of people doing smaller water changes on a daily basis
there are also those that do not do any water changes, unless they feel their tank would benefit from it

find a routine that suites you and your own tanks inhabitants and stick with it

They are, but not so fast that you see it happening nanomania
I can mostly tell, when looking back a couple or months at photos taken
I can also tell when one coral seems to be closer to its neighbour than it used to be
in addition to water changes, I also dose the big 3 - Calcium, Alkalkinity and Magnesium

coralline is my most prolific grower , I can literally see new spots of that growing on a weekly basis

    No issues with that IMO
although its a bit inconvenient and that is the main reason I have elected to go with weekly to be honest

if you have a low demand tank in terms of Calcium and Alkalinity needs, and you find that your tank stays within acceptable reef parameters, on water changes alone then regular/ frequent partial water changes of a smaller volume such as 1% are fine

really depends on your reasons for changing water
if the reason is, to continually replenish the system with elements, that are being used - then smaller , more often is a good way to go
if the reason is - to reduce nutrients, due to water quality issues, then less frequent larger volume water changes would have more benefit IMO

I doubt very much the addition of those 2 corals will have any noticeable effect on your calcium and alkalinity demands
although I would suggest you test and monitor, because as they grow and as you introduce more corals , then there will be a demand and it is monitoring and then reacting to that demand which is key to the growth aspect
