    Hey all,

I'm wondering when to start doing water changes to my cycling tank.

    Current parameters

    ammonia 0

    nitrite .1

    Nitrate 40-50

    Thanks in advance!

How long has it been cycling and what method did you use??
Nitrates are high so I would do a change.

I've always heard to not do any WC until the cycles over because you want that stuff in there to feed bacteria. Also.... waiting sucks. My tank has been cycling FOREVER.

Bacteria additive and you'd be done in 2 days

I added one of those bacteria supplements i don't think it works as advertised. Although I saw hardly any ammonia in my system. It "spiked" to .5ppm when i added my live rock and was undetectable a few days later. However I dont think the product did anything for nitrites or nitrates. Its hard to say that it did anything at all because I also have live sand, miracle mud and mineral mud. So who knows.

How long has your tank been cycling

My tank took like 3 months.... forever. I used 3 bottles of Dr. Tims.

Lost out on a couple fish for my wish list luckily Brett at nicewrasse.com has been holding a couple for me since march.
