Hi, my tank seems to be doing perfect. All water parameters are fine. So everytime I go to my lfs their water looks crystal clear, I mean its almost breathtaking. I was woundering if anyone knows the secret? I have 3 powerheads and a skimmer, and I do a water change about once every 2-3 weeks. The water im using is the ro from wal mart. Do you think its just the water im using? should I get an RO unit? I mean I only have 20 gallons so the unit my not be worth it, but im thinking it might just be the water im using.

You may want to try adding carbon somewhere you have good water flow. Carbon will help clear up the water. I added chemi pure to the canister filter I run for a week every few months and my water is crystal clear.

You may actually have micro-bubbles from one of your power heads. I thought the same thing about my water. unplug everything and let the tank sit for a few minutes. If it becomes crystal clear, that is your problem. Plug one thing back in at a time and trace it down. Also as stated above, Carbon!!

My tank was looking a little hazy with a lot of loose particles blowing around in the DT. I upped the flow through the sump with a bigger return pump, and add in a large filter sock that gets replaced every few days and my water is much clearer now.

When I first started my tank, I used tap water. I had the same problem, I had tiny particles in the water. At first I thought they were micro bubbles from my skimmer, but they never went away. I tried all those water clarifying products too to no avail. It ended up being the tap water. When I bought my Ro/Di unit, my water became crystal clear as it is to this day. I think it is the water you are getting from Walmart. You may want to consider an alternate source to see if it helps, or invest in your own RO/DI unit.
