Those 1400 are strong. It blows my pink tail trigger away easily. With that size tank I don't think you'll be able to keep the flow away from your sand no matter how hard u try.
Is ur sand very fine or new?

Well, the one I always see them by is on a 700gph pump, with about 6 inches of head and a 90 elbow on the tubing. When it's in the tank, it's split into 2 1/4" LocLine flare nozzles I see them at the upper one, which I'm guessing is about 400 gph of the flow, since the other one is weaker when I put my hand in front of it.

I changed my sandbed 6 months ago ....its not powder, but on the fine side. Before i put the 1400 in, I had no problems with sand movement. I had the 2 240s but it wasnt quite enough. Apparently Im an extremist, lol. So Im getting good info here. I think Ill go for the 750. I already have the 2 240s ...

I have a 38g with 2 K1's in it, along with my return pump, Remora skimmer, and HOB powerfilter. All that combines to give me nice flow, and to be honest, I've always wanted a little more. I think 2 750s on a wavemaker would be perfect.

The old K1 is really weak compared to the Evolutions series. I have a K1, a Rio 180 and a modified AC-500 side filter/refugium on my 16G bowfront with 30+ lbs of Southdown sand in it and the sand never moves. One of these days I'm going to replace the K1 and Rio 180 with two Evo nano 425's and stick them on a RKL too.
