I have a 46 Bow, and I am just wondering how I should place my power heads, and if they are ok where i placed them. I have 1 K1 on the left rear of my tank moving water straight across the back. I have 1 K1 on the right front of my tank moving water straight across the front. I have 1 K1 in the back facing up towards the surface and a little to the left, and I also have my return from my Sump hitting the front glass. Is this ok water movement? Or would anyone suggest moving any of the powerheads? Total water movement is around 1600 GPH possibly more with the return from my refugium, but that is very low flow.

    It is hard to say!
Depending on the amount of live rock and corals as well as placement of these you may need to alter the powerheads or add more flow. I can assure you that you really can't have enough water movement. Because of this you may want to incorporate more powerheads in your tank.

If you plan on adding corals, just be careful of the placement and amount of flow that is distributed and forced on the corals. Some corals require more flow than others and divergence too far from optimal in either direction could injure or kill delicate and prized possessions.

One other point I almost forgot to mention is that avoidance of laminar flow current is crucial to the health and overall dispersal of water flow. It is best to position your powerheads so that the flow of water is deflected off your tank glass. This aids in providing current to more areas of your tank reducing the likelihood of dead spaces where detritus and cyanobacteria can accumulate. It also reduces the likelihood of too much flow being forced out in a small given area like a stream which can be detrimental to many species of coral.

I agree with the above said. if you can direct the water from teh PH towards the galss or even each other, the water will do the rest giving you a more indirect current it the tank. for SPS, 20x or more is recommended.
