    sorry for your losses,but glad the tanks getting back to norm....I had this happen to me last yr(never did find the reason),just did as stated above with the carbon and wc`s..keep us posted..

    Could have been a mass spawning of small inverts. This happened to me once, i could see the white milk squirt from my rocks.

    Could it have been precipitated hardness from imbalanced water? The water change could have restored ionic balance.
