Water haziness question

I set up my 90 gallon and filled with water and am using a euro reef rs135 with a filter sock and chemipure. 80 lbs of live sand, about 75 lbs of live rock...30 - 35 lbs of the rock was from my old 30 gallon and 45 lbs was from my lfs from aobut a week and a half ago. I am experiencing the haziness before and after the addition of the new rock and today threw in 2 med. sized bags of charcoal. Everytank ive set up is crystal clear within a few days of starting the filters with chemipure. Im wondering whats going on? Anyone have an suggestions? I even used around 10 gallons of my old water from the 30. My skimmer is pulling a foggy colored yellow foam/water from the tank so maybe i just need the skimmer to catch up? All the fish are doing great, eating like pigs and swimming around happy as can be. Ive set up 5 tanks or so this route but never the slight haze in the water til now. Any suggestions?

 

um, there could be a circulation problem? cause i have taken everything out of my 55 many times, and the first time i set it up i had it for a week ( i had no powerheads or skimmer) and the latest time i did i had both and it was crystal clear in 5-6 hours or so

 

I dont think i have circulation issues, i have a tunze 6045 and 6025 nano streams along with around 425 ghp on the sump return pump. Turning tank volume over around 25x an hour.

 

I'm having the same problems but its been about 5 hours...I think because I added sand...so I think I should be alright good luck with your problem...

 

I wouldnt worry about it - but for crystal clear water i have always found Seachems Purigen to do the trick! The Carbon should help too

 

May just be a bacterial bloom and will be gone in about 72 hrs.

 

Looks like good flow...

Could be kicking up sand/or sand powder depending on what kind you have or whether you rinsed it well to begin with.

May or may not settle out over time...

Would put fine mesh filter socks on all outflows and see if they don't help clean things out. (great place also to put carbon socks).

I dont think its a bacterial bloom but if it is than its been going on now for at least a week. Im using 2 bags of chemi pure that usually clear my tanks up within a day or so but still nothing. I played with the pumps flow direction to see if that works....we'll see tonight i guess. As far as it kicking up sand i dont see any of that going on. Its the the same graual size sand ive used for years....only difference is that is black reef sand. I am also using a 200 micron filter sock also....I am only using a 19 watt temp. light on the center of the tank so im thinking maybe the lack of light could have something to do with it? I just dont recall my 125 gal. being this hazy with that same 19 watt light.

 

How long has it been running for totally I'd say if it looks like a bit of milk was poured into the tank and its a white hazy look to the water either Bacterial bloom or a bacterial bloom . It can take weeks to settle in using L/R and sand . Maybe there was to much die off of the anaerobic bacteria ? But when they die they make a tank look hazy.. It could simple be micro bubbles also try cutting off the pumps and just let it set a few hrs then have a look if the air is being pulled in at the wet end of the pump then the cavatation will also have that look to it.. I'd eliminate that myself by cutting system down for a couple of Hrs..

 

Tangster, yeah theres really no mirco bubbles, cut the pumps off for a few hrs the other day yet it remained. Im beginning to think it its a bacterial bloom than. It does look like someones poured a few ounces of milk in the tank if that. Is a bacterial bloom bad?
