Hi, I'm looking to start a 20 gallon long and I have some questions about powerheads and protein skimmers..

My current filtration is a 30-60 HOB filter. It generates pretty good water movement but I thinking I will need at least one powerhead. So my questions...

Would one powerhead be enough on an aquarium this size?
Is a protein skimmer necessary on a tank this size?

    Thank you!

What kind of corals are you planning on keeping? The type of corals you want to keep will determine how much flow you will need and the necessity of a skimmer.

Multiple small power heads are better than fewer bigger or medium power heads. Creates more random water movement as the different flows interact.

yes, but multiple flow patterns are best

its important for any size tank
