I recently built a 3 part sump: fuge, skimmer, return pump areas. The return pump are appears a little stagnant, even though I have a pump pulling 693gph. I was wondering if I should have any water movement in there...there is a light "skin" on the surface.

I have a Koralia Nano left over from an old Nano system, and was wondering if it would be a good idea to put it in there to shake things up a bit?

Do you turn your skimmer off at night?

no it runs 24/7, I just have 2 koralias in my sump that are on a timer to run about 30 minutes a night.. One is in the fuge, one in the skimmer section.. After doing this detrius accumilation in both skimmer and fuge have almost gone away.. It works for me.

I get it now...that light film on the bottom of those sections...it wouldn't be there with a flow helping to keep it suspended...the same in the return pump section too I guess

I doubt its going to hurt anything as is, but with the addition of a powerhead pointed at the surface will break it up..
