    Got ya. As someone at this for about 25 years my bit of clarification is this; Yes, doing water changes (frequent) may serve the purpose you state, however, allowing an aquarium to live for say 4 weeks without a water change and monitoring it weekly will give you greater insight as to exactly what the tank is consuming i.e. Alk, Mag, Cal etc and also reveal PH swings if any. Something for the future you may want to consider.

    I would raise your alkalinity to 9dKH or 10dKHfirst and then your mg a tiny bit to 1350 or close. Then everything else will kind of follow on its own... until your next water change, that is :)
