    Don't even consider tap water! Tap water is the source or more frustration and people leaving the hobby than anything. The cost of RO/DI or distilled water is miniscule compared to the cost of the live rock and inhabitants.

    You also need to keep in mind, a water utilities quality report is a snapshot in time, what you see is the results from a year ago when that source was tested and may not be the same today. RO/DI and distilled will test 0 on all those parameters and the salt mix you use will contain only the things your reef needs and in the correct amounts.
