Water question for the tech heads

    Hi all
    Installed a new air con the other day on a concrete area so nowhere for the drain to drain the water so am using a bucket to collect and use on the plants.
    Then it came to ?? Can i use this water for top up for my marine tank which has quite a bit of evaporation due to the m/h lights. At the moment i am using tap water with prime.
    Haven't tested the air conwater yet but don't really know what to expect or to look out for.
    Any ideas much appreaciated

    I would not use this water. There is a good chance the plumbing on the inside of the sir conditioner is copper. Not to mention all the other chemicals used in there...

    Theoretically, this is distilled water, and there's no finer water for aquarium use except maybe RO/DI water. However, this water is distilled from coils that collect dust and other airborne junk. Over time, mold can grow on the areas immediately surrounding the coils and add a whole lot of unwelcomed guests to the party.

    Don't use this water, you'll contaminate the tank.

    A/C condensate water is far far far from distilled water .. It contains every type of particulate matter that was ever in the air from Pollen to dander to pesticides or anything else that can float in air.. Look at the A/C's filter see what you find..Then there is the matter of that water having a lower P.H from the pollution and running over the Aluminum and Copper Condenser coils Same applies to a dehumidifier's waste water..

    Tangster, doesn't the air that circulates over the AC's coils go thru the filter? I thought it did.
