Would adding water from the ocean help or hurt my saltwater aquarium?

chances of parasites. most likely hurt. unless it is filtered extremely well, including by a UV filter. i would still advise against it.

If I lived near the shore, I wouldn't use anything but NSW. I've done it before when I did live near a beach, and I know others on here that use it today with no problems.

Just curious, where can you get NSW in Richmond, KY?

Lol, I don't have any readily available to me here. But, either my friend or I go to Myrtle Beach every year so I figured we could start bringing back 5-10 gallons for my tank. I just wasn't sure if it would be beneficial to my tank or if it would just be a waste of time.

I doubt you'd see much difference with just an occasional WC. If it was feasible and you were switching to NSW exclusively, then it would be worth the effort.
