    Hii guys!
I need to do an emergency water change today and i am not able to make it to the usual place i get the saltwater at.
I do have a petco near me. Do u think it will be ok to get saltwater at different places or it does make a difference in the aquarium.

    Thank youu

Saltwater is Saltwater, as long as the salinity matches yours, or close to it, you should be fine. Your going to pay alot more for a jug of saltwater from petco then you would from a LFS.

    A few questions first.

    Why an emergency water change?
What type of aquarium do you keep? Reef tank or fish only?

Sure, if it's a fish only. Otherwise I greatly disagree.

What's the quality of the make-up water? It doesn't even matter what the salinity is or what salt was used if the make-up water was sub-par; your reef tank might hate you.

The only SW Petco sells that I'm aware is Catalina NSW from the South Pacific. Levels are standard, so if you're running a SPS system with elevated parameters, you may need to make some adjustments. Otherwise, perfectly good water. I use it 'as-is' for my softy tank.

Ah, if it is Catalina, then my argument is null & void.

When I need water in an emergency, and don't have enough RO/DI on hand, I use Tap and my Salt mix- currently Kent.
Did it a few months ago, no bad results.

    Yes, indeed it is.

The label says "Petco Real Ocean Water", but the fine print says Catalina. You will also find on Catalina's website that Petco is a major distributor. :)
