I am setting up my tank and slowly filling it with ro water and My original plan was to mix the salt water in the tank with nothing else but the water in it for a few days then add the rock, then the sand. The more I think about it though, if I put the rocks in, won't it be phard to get the sand in after that? I know it is recommended that you place the rock directly on the bottom of the tank so it can't get moved by creatures that burrow. If the sb is only around and inch and a half is it ok to just twist the rock into the sb and make sure it is mostly on the bottom of the tank? Sorry for the long post.

This is completely up to you of course. I personally placed my rocks on PVC pipe used like stilts to keep the rock from moving. This way when you have a critter that like to burrow under the rock, it still doesn't move. I also have more exposed rock for beneficial bacteria this way as well. I actually got this idea from member 2in10 lol. It is the same concept as putting the rock directly on the bottom and putting the sand around it.
