ok so i think my water temp is causing ich to keep coming back. my kole tang had some white spots on his head look like tiny air bubbles there was about 4-5 of them. my water temp. rises all the way to 78.5 when the lights are on.. should i set my heater to just maintain 78.5? or is that too high? should i get fans to keep the water cooler? or is 78.5 ok?

fyi my yellow has NEVER has any white spots hes been eating awesome from day one. my blue didnt eat good right away and has had white spots. but now hes been eating good. he eats pretty much all the dried seaweed i put in there with garlic in it. so i think the garlic is helping him.

if i recall how this goes all tanks have ich and when fish are stressed it can come out. i may be wrong but i dont believe a gradual raise in tempurature will cause this.

just keep an eye on him and make sure he is eating.

hes always picking at my rock but thats it. never the brine shirmp or flake food or the dried seaweed. on picking at rock and glass.. so you think if i fix the temp issue all will be ok? and ich is always around that is true but is 78.5 too high?

If he is picking at the rock he may be getting all he needs from them.. as far as the temp i would say it is ok of it is constant and is not constantly jumping around.

It isn't too high. It helps to be high to get rid of it. The life cycle of the parasite is about 4 weeks. The higher temperature will speed along it's life cycle. The sooner the life cycle runs the sooner it dies. However a higher temperature doesn't mean it won't come back.. as soon as it dies it drops new babies in the tank.
