    Hi all,

The water temperatue in my tank ranges........ from 78.5 when the lights are on too about 77 when they go off .........after a few mins the heater kicks into gear and go back to 78.............Is this a problem?

I have a 55 gallon tank with 2 MH and a open tank (no cover).............

No fish just Hermits and Snails they see to be perfetly fine..

    Thanx Adam

Main thing to watch is tank temp in the summer. If you don't run AC, you may have some issues with the water temp getting too high. That seems to be the biggest issue people have. Its hot in the house in the summer, so your tank may be at 82..then the lights kick on and all of a sudden you are at 84 which is bad news for corals esp.

There are strategies to deal with that, or at least try to manage it, but it can be a challange. If you search this site, you will see a lot of info on that.

I have a problem with temp too. Mine seems to only fluctuate a degree during most days. But if I forget to set my a/c correctly because it has been cold at night and hot during the day. I noticed it went from 79 to 83 one day. I am trying to stay away from buying a chiller. 76 in my house is very comfortable but it seems the tank will get to about 82 when it is that temp in the house. So I am thinking of trying fans or something. I just have vho's not mh's.
