water test question

    Tank is 7 wks into cycling I used a shrimp, still have a ammonia reading of .5-1 ppm, nitrites are 0,nitrates 20 does any of these look out of place?

    did you use a whole shrimp? and i am assuming the tank in question is the one in your sig

    yeah a whole shrimp but its been gone for 5 wks

    If you haven't added anything and the deli shrimp is gone then you shouldn't be getting any ammonia at all. What type of test kit are you using and what is the expiration date?

    yes it has expired, I'll have to get a new one. Thank


    shouldn't nitrates be at 0 also?

    the nitrates wil lbe the last to hit 0. give it a bit longer and all will be good.
