    Hey all,

So i was hoping thats the community could share thier thoughts on my fish wishlist as well as my water test results so far.

Regarding my light question I currently own 2 light rails for a total of 4 T5 tubes, these are currently fresh water lights that came with the tank, im wanting to upgrade my lighting system and was thinking of getting 2 day tubes and 2 night light T5 tubes. currently all four lights run from 12-21, i was wondering what you guys thought if i extended the time of one of the rails (with the 2 night lights) to switch off at around 1am instead of 21. also wont these light disturb the resting periode of the fish?

please let me know what you think

    Test results:

    Questions:

    - How big is your tank?

    - Are the T5s HO? Many times T5s on fresh water systems are not. You will need HO bulbs for the bubble tip.

Agreed... we need to know the size of your tank first; however, there are some problems with your stocking list regardless. You'll most likely have problems with 2 pair of the same species of Wrasse; 1 pair each of different species would be a much safer choice. Same with the Clowns, except only 1 pair of 1 species is advisable. Last but not least, I would only recommend putting 1 of 1 species of Damsel with nothing but 1 of 1 other species of Damsel. 2 pair each of 2 species will literally terrorize everything else in the tank.

man, ultra retarded of me, sorry guys could have sworn i mentioned it. I have a 180 l tank (48gall) 2 rails with 4 fresh water T5s regarding if they are "HO" or not i dont know. they are 895mm 45W tubes.

also when i say to 2 pairs i dont mean 4 fish (tank to small anyway) of the same kind but just 2 of them (male and female) i hear clowns love to be in pairs

LOL... you did mention the lighting but not the tank size. Perhaps it was I who misunderstood your meaning of "2 (pair)". Anyway, you'll be fine with the Wrasse and Clownfish. However, I still don't recommend Damsels for a community tank. One might be ok if introduced last with other larger fish of similar aggression, but there's still no guarantee. 2 or more, even of different species, will be trouble once they mature.

hmmm, thx for the tip. the reason why I would like a couple damsels would be for my skunks to have something to clean, what other fish would you suggest to go hand in hand with the shrimps and the rest of the community?

anyone one have any thoughts on the lighting?

Tangs seem to enjoy cleaner shrimp, also watchman gobies will form a sort of symbiotic relationship with cleaners. There are many more I'm sure.

tank to small for tangs no? was thinking of getting a yellow tang. but yea space is a little limited, ill be able to put only one "large" fish so I have to choose wisely. regarding the goby my final objective once the tank has been launched for a while is to get a Synchiropus splendidus and from what iv read they dont appreciate other gobbies.

There is no real need to go with the lights on for 10 hours. I would run the actinc/blue and I would suggest blue bulbs for 10 hours and run the daylight, 10000K to 12000K bulbs 8 hours. Have the blues come on one hour before the whites and go out one hour after the white.
