Ok my nitrate, nitrite, ph, and amm are all good but my tank is still having some troubles…(green hair alage, and I lost a few fish over the last month or so) My question is what else should I be testing my water for? I was going to pick up a phosphate and magnesium test. Is there anything else I should be testing for?

IS it fish only or do you have corals? If fish only get the phosphate test as they can cause algae issues. But unless you plan on corals you really don't need to test for the big 3 Alk, Calc, and Mag.

I currently have a hammer coral, toad stool, mushrooms, a cleaner shrimp, and a diamond goby in my tank. In the future I would like to add more corals and fish but need to get this water under control. My toadstool is completely open every day and seems to be growing and my hammer coral seem to be flushing too. My water is crystal clear but I have a lot of GHA on my rocks and I lost two clowns not too long ago. ( the only made is about 4 days in my tank :/ my tank has been up for about 3-3 ½ months

    Hi Neon

I am happy to suggest a brand, but do not know where the best deals are for your location

for the 4 suggested above - Salifert test kits would be my choice
they are not the cheapest kits in the hobby
but they are really easy to use, and really easy to interpret the results from
and considered by many to be reasonably accurate for hobbyist grade test kits
