So I am looking into a wave maker for my 72 gallon and was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions. I've been looking at the Jebao WP-40. I also came across this Hydor Koralia 1150 for only $42. I feel this is too good to be true even though the reviews seem to be consistently well. Anyone have knowledge/experience with these? Suggestions on other wave makers are welcome.

    I am running a WP40 in my 90 and one in my 350, it's a great powerhead/wave maker.
I have been through a "bucket load" of Korallia power heads, most of them simply stop working, or start going in reverse, the wp40 is a bigger unit, thats for sure, but the cost, performance and flexibility is better than any "standard" power head.

    IMHO any way

Been using a wp-25 for a few months, performance is great and I love the different setting options and small size. The actual pump that's in the tank is smaller than a koralia 750 but much more powerful. For a 72 I think I would consider using two of these.

I'm using a wp 40 in my 92 and love it... hope it lasts longer than koralias which need to be replaced almost yearly!

Yup,that's the big unknown, everyone that has tried the jabeo pumps seems very happy with the pump and the price but they haven't been around long enough to report on long term reliability.

I'm almost 8 months, bought in February, I have to be. Honest it was the big WP40 that I saw, I actually thought this was the mega expensive mp40 and that aqua giant had made a mistake.

I smiled all the way home praying it wasn't a crappy knock off, or that I had been tricked into buying a lemon.

I was very happy and still am, I have 3 of these now, and my mates run them too

Honestly you can't compare a Jebao WP-XX to a Koralia. They are two completely different designs (former a DC controlled powerhead with multiple settings, latter an AC powerhead that provides consistent laminar flow). You can really only compare a Jebao to a Tunze. Doing that, as long as Jebao's last, they are a hell of a deal. I have 2 WP-40s in my 125 and love them. Nice varied flow throughout the whole tank.

Basically, if you can afford the Jebao, get it IMHO.

Awesome information. Thanks everyone! Looks like I"ll be going after a Jebao. The controllable feature seems nice too.

The Hydor Evolutions are a very good, reliable powerhead and are designed to be controllable but that is an extra cost. The Jebao has a built in controller. I own both and used the Evolutions 1400's on a Reefkeeper Lite controller for over two years before switching to two Jebao WP-25's and have been very happy with the change. Nothing bad to say about the Hydors though and kept all the ones I own as backups if needed.
