Wavemaker in Fish only tank ... is it essential ??

    wavemaker implies a sort of pulsating flow rate. with timers on the powerheads. of course flow is needed in any tank or else there is detritus build up and the water becomes stale.

    I disagree with your definition. Pulsing PH's can make waves, but that's not the only kind of wavemaker there is, nor does it have to be electronically controlled. Additionally, non-laminar flow doesn't require ANY PH's in the DT if the system is designed thoughtfully.

    i am going to stop arguing over such a trivial matter. its not even worth the debate. having powerheads in your tank does not mean you have a wave maker. an average wavemaker like i said is a timer that turns the powerheads off and on. if you disagree then disagree, but this is correct. having a couple powerheads in your tank does not mean you have a wave maker.
