I got 2 800 gph wavemakers for my 55g tank. Will that be enough movement in the system, or to much? I have them placed on each side of the the tank and they are aiming at each other. Is that good placement?

Beyond Todd's advice, it kinda depends on what you'll be keeping in the tank. For instance, FO requires less flow than a reef, and certain reefs require more flow than others.

And what size or configuration the system is. Two at 800 GPH could be too much for a 20G but not enough for a 100G tank, or good in a 4 foot long but not so good in a taller 3foot long tank or a corner tank.
It also depends on the style of powerhead. The old Maxijet/Penguin style has a concentrated jet stream flow which many corals may not like and which may disturb sand or substrate while a 800 GPH powerhead similar to a Tunze, Seio, Koralia, Evolutions. MP or WP or similar may provide a more spread out diffused flow pattern which is easier on the inhabitants and contents.

As for my tank setup it will end up being a reef tank, but for now it I am starting with a FOWLR, at least until I can get the lighting. The tank is 48"L x 12"w and 20"d and I will start cycling it next week. I ordered my rock and sand and it is on its way here, and I can't wait to fill the tank with water and start cycling it.

Okay, well my cycle will not be starting until the first week of July. I have to wait on my RO/DI unit.
