Debating between the Vortech or Tunze but both are really very expensive for me. I was wondering if anyone has tried using a cheap Tunze non-controllable power head and use a hydor wave maker ? Cost should be less than 200 bucks

Yes I agree Vortech are awesome but my concern right now is price and also how silent the system is. I have been searching and there seems to be some issues with the Vortech. I did test the hydor wavemaker with the hydor pump and it was making those stop noises that I couldn't stand it and I return the units. I like the tunze but their controllable pump are well over 300 bucks each, which is kinda crazy. I was hoping to go with their non controllable pump for about 50 to 60 bucks and then use the hydor wavemaker, will this work ? I don't need one pump to run at certain % of airflow, it can be the same. I just want some random flow on my tank.

    Thanks for your feedbacks
