So I'm doing my 10 gallon's first water change and now that i think about it taking out 3 gallons is quite a lot. So I just took out 3 gallons but I plan on keeping some corals in the future And the water is just a little bit more then the halfway point of the tank. If I plan on placing corals in the high section then how can i go about doing WC's?

Always have the water ready to go. Take out the old and immediately add in the new. The coral can handle being out of the water for longer than this process should take. Also you could go to 1 gallon water changes once a week.

How long can a coral stay out of water? Also I'm thinking maybe to do 2 gallons because thats the maximum that my buckets can hold and i think it would be more efficient

They can handle 15 to 30 minutes easily.
