both software updates and hardware releases... like port expansion beyond 8 ports, a manual override for each port, the software is updated like every 2 weeks with new stuff, PDE file generator was just released, email updates were released, 3reef user crank made a client suite to display graphs and data, and a bunch of other ideas for hardware/software add-ons are also being thrown around right now.

 

Ah, I knew about crank's program, but I didn't know about a hardware update. Is that going to be an add on package to the current system, or does it necessitate a whole new controller?

 

I don't know the specifics yet, but from what I understand, you should be able to replace the power box, reprogram, and it should be good to go. For the new power boxes anyways.

 

someone asked about incorporating the new ATmega2560 arduino chip in the controller but that would be a lot of work to complete. Its wayyy up in the air right now but its being considered. If this chip can be put in it would expand the memory to 256kb (up from 32kb now) and give a WHOLE LOT more room for code.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. The more people interested..... well you get the idea.

 

I like the sounds of this. Is this still going for the original priice $200? I assume the expansion of controllable outlets will be a nominal fee, similarly to that of the RK & the AC?

 

The ATmega2560 is a more expensive chip than the one in the current RA, so you probably wouldn't get it at the same price as the current RA.

It's also quite a bit of work to port from one platform to another, so I imagine it would be a while, unless Roberto was already significantly far into development on it.

 

Me Too.. WHEN???????????????????????????????????? My DT is in my theater room and my sump/refuge is in my walkout basement 1 level below. I even had an idea of just buying two RA....

it may be a few weeks until everything is smoothed out yet though. I actually told Roberto "One of my friends has been waiting for this functionality to become available. He will probably be purchasing very soon now."

So if you shoot an email to Roberto and mention that Trent said there was a unit in development for connecting multiple boxes, he should make the connection and he might be able to give you some final dates or at least more information on it.

 

I'm very interested on this as well. My birthday is coming in Nov, so I will have some present money to blow on my tanks if nothing else presses.
