I thought about setting up one of my cameras on the tank and feeding it over the net (i have some on the net for my house but security is really high) but I just don't trust some people with a direct pipeline to my network.

Lets be honest. Anything that is wireless is never as good as one that has a wire. I would think you would need to spend a lot of money to get a very good wireless cam. Is there no way you could use a wired cam ?
