Had 2 snails and a golden algae eater. Perfectly happy and relatively healthy, still cleaning away, but more algae left to eat. Also put a few wafers in the tank on Thursday. Went out of town Thursday afternoon and stuck in a 3 day weekend feeder tablet. Came back on Sunday afternoon and had 2 dead snails. 2 weeks later, the algae eater in happy and healthy. Wondering if the snails could have been killed by the weekend feeder tablets. Trying to figure out if I'll be able to get more snails and use weekend feeders or what might else might have killed them that fast. Thanks.

First if you have a reef tank, you should be able to go for a couple of days without feeding the tank without any problems.

How long have you had the snails? How much did the salinity change over the weekend? Salinity shock is very bad on snails and can kill them very quickly.

Yes, it is freshwater, I apologize for being in the wrong section, first night on the forums, saw the word inverts and jumped at the chance to ask that question, without going back and checking the bigger topic area. I'll repost in freshwater, or if there is a Mod around, could you move it? Thanks.

    Answering questions:
Had them for about 5 months before that, including through an 6 day honeymoon with the same feeder tablets, which is why I was confused?
