So Going out of town tomorrow. Friday. And Wont be back till Sunday night.

My girlfriend thinks the fish wont survive without food for the weekend. I think from what i read here its better that than have someone come and do something weird to the tank.

I only have 2 clown fish and some inverts.

So do I try to find someone today. Thursday. that says they want to come over and try and feed my fish? Or just let them survive for 2 days.

    Glen.

I have gone away for a long weekend many times where I left Friday morning and didn't return until Monday night and did not feed the fish in between. Even though it wasn't the fish's normal feeing, I just fed them in the morning on Friday before I left and then when I came back on Monday night. They were fine for the time I was gone.

I have been told that fish can last about a week without food. I have never personally starved them for that long, but that's what I have been told.

    Hope this helps!

Nah, I've gone away for longer than that without worrying about feeding my fish. If I'm gone for longer than a week though, I have somebody come over to feed them.

No feeding. They don't always eat every single day in the wild. I don't even feed my own but every other day.

Awesome guys. That takes a weight off my mind. And makes me think maybe i shouldnt be feeing every day. I try to keep it really lite. But I bet every other day would be better for my cyno problems.

Fish don't eat every day in the wild - they'll survive no problem. I feed mine at best 3x a week.

Ahhh that's nothing. Just feed a little before you leave, top up your water as well and feed when you get back. they will be fine, i do this when i go away for the weekend. Nothing to worry about, marine fish have slow metabolisms so you'll be a okay.

Yup, don't feed...will survive for a week at a time without feeding. Many times they will pick at pods etc. in your live rock but really shouldn't be an issue!

Think of the mouth brooders like the cardinals that cant eat for a week caus e they have the babies in their mouth.

Cardinals usually hold eggs and fry in their mouth for more like 28 days than a week.

Also, many wild caught fish see food for the first time when they finally reach a pet stores tanks. Many collectors and wholesalers don't even bother to feed and those turnarounds can be several days.

Finally, places that breed fish often stop feeding batches a day or two before shipping to allow the fish to clean out it's system so it doesn't foul the shipping bags.

A weekend will only make your fish appreciate you that much more.
