So once again I am completely lost when it comes to coral behavior.. I had this guy in my tank forever, and it occasionally released this clear stringy thing, but now is happening more often, havent changed anything bulbs are new 2 months old havent changed flow or position of the coral water parameters are all in line, temp is at a steady 76 any clues?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Is it trying to kill the coral right next to it?

No I dont think so they have been together since forever, sometimes even the stringy thing
would be on top of my other coral and nothing has happened
I thought maybe it was spawning but everyday???? did it take the blue pill for corals? ;)

many soft corals will "shed" a slime layer that looks like that when something irritates them suck as crabs walking on them etc. Also corals have an oral opening to take in food but have you ever seen a corals... ahem ..cough..cough..how can I put this..bunghole? Probably not and thats because corals also expel waste through their "mouth" which may also be the case. My toadstool and frogspawn have been known to do just what your coral is doing, in the case of my toadstool it would always look more brilliant than ever right afterwards, I think my frogspawn was just pooping cause it always looked the same.

It looks like coral slime to me. Any reason it would be stressed?

To me it maybe what everyone else is saying OR it could be you have a sessile snail somewhere near it, and it may be expelling its web to catch food, check around the coral, or even at the base of the coral to see if maybe there is a little tube hiding somewhere!

Evolved: I cant think of any reasons why it would be stressed he has been in that position for the longest and I haven't added any new coral near him, he looks healthy and happy, it is so bizarre.

Shackman: Thanks for the idea I am going to go back and pick him up and take a closer look.

    Thanks everyone for the ideas.
