Last couple days there have been some Wild Caught Orchid Dottys on Divers Den and they are selling super quick. As a deep-water fish, why would people want a wild caught over a captive bred that is identical in appearance. Doesn't being captive bred increase life cycle and health in captivity to some degree?
Also why pay 70 bucks more?

That is a good question and I don't think it makes sense either. Funny thing is, my LFS had a few in today and I've never seen them there before. I'll have to ask if they are wild or tank raised.

Plus it's just the more ethical thing to do! I don't know why anyone would pay extra for a harder fish to keep when there are cheaper easier options!?

I know some people prefer fish closest to wild caught (or wild caught) because there is less breeding of them and less inbreeding, leading to longer lifespans and less chance of potential problems.

Maybe it's that? Not sure though. I know I'd go tank bred! :)

Yea, I don't know anything about ORA breeding. Must be some reason people pay that much more! lol

Not sure if it's the reason or not, but you can never underestimate stupidity ;).
