So I don't think it's gha and I don't really have any other algae in my tank. I do weekly water changes, I just can't figure out what this is or how to get rid of it

Cyanobacteria. Siphon it out often and increase flow to the affected area. Increase your WC schedule and volume. Find snails and crabs that will eat it.

Why do you want to get rid of it? Algae is a sign of life.

The whole point of setting up a reef tank is to try to sustain an ecosystem in a closed environment. Algae is a sign that new life is starting to form. You should only try to rid something in a reef tank if it becomes harmful to your livestock, otherwise in the long run you will be doing more harm than good, Even cyano. My 0.02

Interesting and appreciated take on it. I would say that most people remove algae and the like because of it's unsightly look.

Thanks. Yea I understand the unsightly part of it. Maybe I've been lucky for so many years, but whenever I've let hair algae, cyano, etc just be, in time the tank sorted itself out after awhile and all became balanced again. But don't take my word for it, I also haven't don't a WC in 9months ;D

Wow, yea I would have never thought of it like that.... Still the look of it just makes my tank look kinda blah. I just ordered a better cuc seeing as mine don't touch the stuff so I may see if they eat it, if not il take care of it myself

Non benifical bacteria is bad for our tanks. Which is exactly what cyanobacteria is.
