Hey everyone, Lately i have been noticing this long white string-looking stuff hanging from the side off one of my rocks. When i was feeding the fish i brushed this away, however noticed that 10 seconds later it had re-appeared???

I pulled it away again but it kept reappearing. On further inspection I noticed a tiny tiny red think inside the rock that was producing this stuff. I dont have a foto but in inspecting the rock around it, there appears to be some sort of burrow where it goes into when scared, and it looks like it has eaten through the rock to pop out the end.

Any thoughts on what this thing is? Is it harful in the tank?

    Thanks,

    Breed

It sounds like you have a type of worm that lets out a kind of net to gather food. Like a spider web sort of. Not sure of the animals name. If you watch long enough it will pull the net back in. Not harmful to my knowledge. Just another live rock criter cleaning junk out of the water.

I have some of those in my tank. Coralline-encrusted shell, orange heads, little mucus strands; they look pretty nifty. I think they're my favorite LR hitch-hiker.
