Weird little sponges growing everywere

Does any one know what type of creature this is? It looks like some type of sponge. I have them growing inside my eheim II external filter, on the sides of the tank in low light places, and also inside my fluidised filters.

 

they sort of look like pinapple sponges

 

What are they? They are pod shaped and hollow inside, they break up when you try to move them.

 

i get the same stuff in my PHs as well. also in my sump..
