    Yes it's a sponge, and believe it or not (because I didn't) they are mobile.

    I will see if I can find the link for you Renee, I can not remember the forum even.

    It was a discussion regarding sponges and a well respected Marine Biologist posted that some sponges do move, very slowly yes but some do.

    No way did I believe him, he linked some interesting images and Marine Sponge Research and sure enough.

    It was not some regurgitated forum miss-information. I will see if I can find it or if I booked marked it.

    Thanks, that's a trip that they move, but the more I think of it I swear this thing used to be a lot lower on the rock.

    I have a few of those in my tank and they move like a caterpillar. You can totally see them moving though.

    The contract and expand, and can move up to I guess 4mm a day.
