im having some weird params on the tank i setup yester day. ill give you everything i know.

    Sg-1.023
    Ammonia-.25
    Nitrate-40
    Nitrite-0

i used sand from my 10 gal. about 18 lbs. and 20 lbs of live sand from a bag. then 30 lbs dry sand. i have 5 lbs of live rock and thats it so far. im using a silverside to cycle. the tank also smells kinda weird. i am ussing bacteria in a bottle just like my last tank. i am also using a sponge that i had in my 30 gal for a few weeks. i am also using carbon that i used in the 30 gal for a few weeks. im also using new carbon. i am using IO salt. thats all the info i have right now. if you have any other questions ill gladely answer them.

Probably natural params actually. Since you used old sand you prob stirred up some gunk and spiked your nitrates. Ammonia will always show up first followed by nitrites, kinda like the middle man. They wont spike until your bacteria is strong enough to convert it to nitrites. It prob only appears that you skipped them when actually you haven't.

70 pounds of sand in a 29 gallon . . . are you sure you got those numbers right? Thats like a 4" sand bed. The levels look pretty normal for transferring stuff from an existing tank to your new one to me. give it a few days to settle and catch up, the ammonia and trates should drop soon.

you already have ammonia present probably from a little die off caused by the move. No need to introduce any more IMO.
