Last night when feeding my fish I happened to noticed some weird thing that looked like a worm of some sort coming out from under a piece of live rock that I bought. It had two antennea and it crawled out and grabbed one of my small snails. I picked up the rock and looked underneath it, and I didn't see anything. Anyone have any idea what the hell I have in there?

hrm, bobbit worm (sp?), peanut worm? im not too good with the worms of the sea. it might also be a true bristleworms, the ones that get big. look at those and see if one of them is right.

There is a type of worm that eats snails, although I don't think it grabs them. They secrete a mucous over the snail and eat them. You could try googling Oenone Fulgida for more info about it. I had them in my old tank and gave up trying to get it/them out and just upgraded my tank. :)

Not trying to scare you, if it actually grabbed the snail I doubt it was this worm.

    Its a Eucnid Worm!

After doing some digging I found out what the heck is in my LR grabbing my snails. It is a Eucnid worm, which are supposed to be very bad, and can even kill fish and corals. When I got home, i took out the chunk of LR and smashed it, RIP mushrooms. Inside a Moucos lined hole inside the rock i found a 4 inch nasty worm. At least it is gone! I wont have to worry about this thing grabbing any more of my snails!

i have 80 lbs of base rock, and i bought like 4 pounds of live rock to seed things, who'd of thunk that there would be one of these creepy crawlies in one of the smallest pieces! BTW it was my fav because it had two mushrooms!
