My boyfriend has this trumpet coral in his tank that has something on it that we can't figure out. One of the heads looks great, eats well, etc. The other head has something that comes out of it. It's very small and looks a little bit like a 1/2 featherduster but it opens and closes over and over in a motion like a hand. Does anyone know what it could be?

Sure. Barnacles are filter feeders like dusters with the added bonus of moving! :)

If it looks like it's making the "c'mere" gesture we do with our curled index finger, then as Steve said, it's a barnacle.
