It looks like a turf algae that is matted down because it's out in the air. Does it look like hair or grass when it's in the overflow?

    Which tank is it in?

If it's in a built in overflow, it's easy to remove. Turn off the return pump, remove the standpipes to give your hands room to work. Use a ruler as a vertical "algae plow". Remove as much as you can, pick it up and throw it away. Put the standpipes back in. Put a filter sock or filter floss under the drain in your sump to catch whatever algae you missed by hand. Fire the return pump back up.

To keep it from coming back, make a lid for your overflow so light can't get into it.

Well is it like a bad thing to have?? Like will it cause any problems and when you say remove the pipes that would make all the water inside of the sump exit and go out the whole at the bottom... But i am only 15 all most 16 and like my dad is well ya dad old lmao but he does not know enough about tanks to help so is this like a easy task???

Bristleworms....if you touch them with your bare hands, it will hurt. The bristles stick into your skin like a cactus. Wear gloves.

Running activated carbon will help make your water clear.

If you use duct tape, you can often pull out the bristles.

Most stores will have a nice carbon like Marineland or Marineland Black Diamond
