Just picked up my picasso trigger yesterday and he took well to my tank. My lionfish was shakeing and doing head jestures for a couple of hours but once he noticed the trigger wasnt interested he calmed down alot...they get along great. They even share silversides, the trigger picks at it once its full the lion just sucks it up. Its really funny the trigger is makeing a mess i cant explain borrows everywhere looks like he took the left side of the tank. He dug a hole under a rock and hangs out thier when its sleep time....the poor little hermit was inside one day and the trigger just threw him the F out. I was 1 min to late to catch it on film...he does on the other hand really hate the turbo's i can see them being a meal for him soon...he nips at them and tosses them around as well...so my tank looks like this trigger has control of left side...NOBODY go's in the middle (lionfish) and on the right the 6 damsels have a blast. Thats all for me for the time being...maybe once the damsels get sucked up maybe ill get another. Pic's and vid will be up tonight!

    -thanx

I must admit, as nice as they look, im not a fan of trigger fish. Youc an kiss your hermits and snails goodbye as at some point he will eat them. They are just too aggressive for my liking.
But i guess as long as you enjoy him, thats whats important!

Beautiful fish, both of them….you realize that the trigger will kill the lion fish eventually right? All Triggers are incredibly skilled in killing lion fish, they go right for the spines and rip them right off leaving the lion fish defenseless.

well, that's in the wild - I beleive in a tank the same will result but it will be more like a cat playing with a mouse.....yeah, its a toy - but you knaw what eventually happens to the mouse.

as long as their fed enough they can get along for a while, the huma triggers aren't a super agressive breed so you might be ok but yeah you can kiss any invert you own goodbye just hope they dont annoy you to death while they do it, my old undulated used to take all the crabs/snails and ram them into the glass as hard as he could just to drive me nuts

Very nice looking fish, but from what i know they arent reef recommended. Reason: Fish can eat inverts. From what i know but i'm sure this will be fine. congrats

My humu humu constantly attacked my Lion Fish. I would STRONGLY recommend against this combo. I had them house together in a 55 gallon (which I admit was a bit too small, but both were adolescents) and they would normally get along great until it was feeding time. The trigger would start nibbling at the silversides, then the lion fish would zoom in and swallow the rest whole, then the trigger would nip at the lions fins. I eventually sold the Trigger after he bit off a large portion of fin. When I told the LFS, he said to avoid Picasso and Undulate triggers if you have a Lionfish.

Just a friendly warning to those who are considering this combo.

Edit: He also would "peck" at the my turbos but never actually killed any of them. It was pretty amusing to watch. Picasso triggers are great fish with tons of personality, but I think their aggression is a bit underrated. I'll be considering a Niger trigger for my next triggerfish.

I have a way of feeding both of them without them fighting...cause i seen what your talking about. i purchased a claw and when its feeding time i feed the trigger first, once he's full i just let the rest of the silverslide just float and the lioncomes in for his meal. But most of the time they do just fine, in the beginning they were both little tence but they all got thier spot.
