i think ill wait 2 weeks to get a fish, but not a damsel since i don't want to deal with it. I'm thinking of putting the blue flasher wrasse in first.

Oh and i didn't think of the CUC not having food yet, maybe i'll add them a week or two after having a fish in the tank

Yeah, Say no to damsels. I am trying to get rid of three at the moment. they are going back to the LFS this week.

All damsels should just be put back in the ocean, IMO

I put a CUC in my tank when I set it up, but I had all established water, live rock, and live sand. The snails are cruising around munching on what little algae I have, and the hermits are picking on the live rock. One of the hermits did end up killing a snail, and he fended off the other hermits who were going to "share" in the meal until he was full.

The tank's been going for about a week and a half, and my ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate are all at zero, and everything else is perfect. I'm still going to let everything cruise on like it is right now for another week or so, though, before introducing any fish, just to be sure I don't get any weird spikes.

Why the dislike of damsels, guys? Are they trouble with corals? I last had a marine tank fifteen years ago, in the dark ages before many people kept corals in home tanks. Everyone seemed to like them, then.

i haven't had my own experience with damsels, nor do i plan to but i hear they are just nasty little guys and when your tank is done cycling is a PIA to get them out of the tank, and i don't feel like taking down my rock to catch a damsel

I'll bet you didn't start from scratch, a 2 day cycle sounds more like a tank upgrade to me.

congrats on nearing the end of your cycle, today begins week 6 for mine, my amonia levels are down to 0.25 today and the nitrite level has fallen to the point where its at least on the scale now, last week it was so high i couldn't even guess at the level :)

That's the only thing I'm not looking forward to when I get my new tank is the wait. Hopefully it won't take that long since I'm using the sand and rock from my other tank. I bet your ready for some fish. lol

    +1 on that.

Chromisis are great first fish. Hardy, peaceful, nice looking and only $7 each.
