So the a few days ago i started breaking out with a rash on my arms, face, ears, neck, etc and could not figure out why. I am not sick, i'm not allergic to anything, i haven't touched poison ivy nothing yet i have all these rashes. They are reddish bump areas on my skin that don't really hurt but are fairly uncomfortable and itchy etc. So today i put 2 and 2 together and realized i've had my hands in the tank all week reorganizing, cleaning, other maintenance, etc so its more than likely that i got some paly toxins on my hand and must have scratched my face/neck/ears and caused rashes everywhere. so just a reminder for everyone to do your research on the stuff and make sure you clean yourself off well after you have your arms in a tank. i knew pretty well about palytoxins prior to this but i always shrugged them off like it was nothing and im sure im not the only member here who has done this and regretted it. so everyone just be careful and dont be an idiot like me lol.

lol, I was literally getting ready to start a thread on this soon. For a few months now, my arm gets SUPER itchy after messing in the tank. I used to be able to just wash it off good and be done with it, but those days seem fading. From what I've read, it just keeps getting worse until the rash will last and become flakey:(
So my paly's are going back to the LFS next trip! Trade them for something;)

And do NOT rub your eyes

no, friend of a friend, she was fragging paly's and got squirted.

Yeah, I keep looking at those, but they look like they'd be hard to feel around with.????

You would be correct. however, when moving rocks around trying to scape its not bad at all...and thats when i have my hands in the tank the most. I rarely have to enter the tank unless a coral got flipped or putting new stuff in.

Super difficult to use those; I have a pair and kinda hate them. Too thick to feel a thing coupled with the ability to feel the water pressure makes them not so useful.

    You're not an idiot

And, it may not be paly toxins, but something else entirely.

But I agree, we have to be careful with any potential toxins.

yeah, I think I'm just gonna get rid of my paly's. Not a big fan anyways, I could see where those would work for moving around though. Better than getting caught by a fireworm.??
