I couldnt resist any longer! I was getting tired of being limited to what I could add to my little nano cube tank so I went out and bought a 55 gallon. Im not sure what I plan on doing with my 12 gal. nano just yet. I either plan on keeping it as a quarantine tank or I might make it into a reef tank and keep a couple of yellow ponies. Any suggestions?? Not sure if thats even the right type of tank to keep the horses as they need some room to move as well. Not sure if Im ready for that challenge but eventually I want some horses. I dont quite have my 55 gallon goin yet due to the fact that I have to add support to where I want to put it. I want to put it on my bay-like counter that divides my kitchen and living room which will look just awesome there. I was alos wondering if I had enough lighting for my 55 gallon? I purchased 2-65 watt 10,000k Daylight and 2-65 watt true actinic 03 blue straight pin compact lights. Is that enough? Will post some pics when it is up and goin!! Im excited..

Congrats on the new purchase, it usually doesn't take very long ;D

The light depends on what you want to keep but it is definately enough for a nice display.

You could turn the Nano-cube into a macro tank

With that lighting setup yo uhave about 4.7 watts per gallon which is fine for LPS & Softies. If you were wanting some Acro's or Clams I would up it to about 5.5 - 6 watts to be safe. If you added one 150w Halide you'd have 7.45 wpg or if you added one more 65w PC you'd have about 5.9 wpg. I know it has something to do with the depth of your tank too but 55's aren't that deep so personally I think you'd be fine. Good luck w/ it. Post some pic's if you get time!! :)

Welcome to the 55 club! ;) It will seem so big compared to what you had, for awhile! ::) A year ago my 55 seemed to big to ever make look right on my very limited budget. Now it almost feels like a nano tank! :square:

Congrats on your upgrade QTYPIE424 8)

This is really a "sick" hobby..... gotta love it though.

Good luck with your 55g. Eventually you may end up looking at the 120s just for the fun of it.
