I see what appears to be 3 healthy arms; you could cut those with a scalpel and save them if you want to keep it alive.

:( Im just so ... sad. Everything else is doing so great. And it was too... I think maybe I raised my DKH a little too quick.. idk I raised it from 7 to 11 in a little over a week, I have been trying to raise it for a while but it never really worked so I dosed more, I just put baking soda in my top off water and dosed it every day.. my guess is the change killed him :(

You know, on the other hand, sometimes chit just dies. That little guy could have had something else completely wrong that you're associating what you did as the direct cause. If everything else in the tank is normal, then it just may very well be, and you really did nothing wrong.

Why 11 DKH? That seems high, IMO. I would stick with about 9 DKH.

Hm... I had a thread before and everyone said 10 to 11 is good for SPS I don't have a ton of sps.. but i'll stop dosing for a few days and test again. then just try to maintain....

I meant 9 for a mixed reef. It seems most people have their parameters sky-high, though I think that is for SPS or SPS dominant reefs.

I sympathize with what you're going through. Ive lost a nice pink hammer recently, with no reason that I could think of.. Sorry, but he was lucky to have you as a nice owner.

When you try to up the KH (which Im trying to do as well btw), watch for the pH as well. Depends on what you have, but mine raises pH big time. Try not to raise more than 1dKH in 24 hour period. It took 48 hours for me to raise from 6 to 7 since my pH is at 8.2-8.4.

Again, sorry for what happened and now put a smile on your face :)

Starfish can be pretty picky and finiky. From what I read they can just sudden take a turn south and fall apart for no apparent reason.
