Hello everyone, I have a question about wellso corals.

I have a dragon goby that for some odd reason keeps dumping substrate on my new wellso, besides removing either of the two, what can I do?

Does not seem to bother the wellso to much but I dont like the DG doing this.

Is the Wellso directon sand bed?

some people place them on plastic drain pipe, about an inch high or so
as this keeps them just out of the way of the sand bed activity region

I had similar issues with sand being peppered on to mine, due to the antics of my leapord wrasse who for reasons best known to himself, believed all the best pods where under the sand bed and routinely dived head 1st into it, shook its head about and then came up to look at what it had unearthed

I have mine placed on flat pieces of rock smooth edges, keeping them about 1cm of the sand bed now, and thus less expossed to this activity

Well thanks Steve, so it's ok to place a Wellso on rock? Everything I have read states sand bed, but if you have had sucess I have several places I can place him.

On a side note, I got up this morning (about 6am) went to the big tank to turn on the atinics, and I saw all of my new Favia's had their feeding tenticles out, it was pretty cool to see (TY RAH!). The reason I mention this- I switched food Yesterday to Rod's food - man that stuff is really good.

Its often suggested to place them on the sand bed, due to fact that when its expanded, the flesh is easily damaged, thus a fine grade sand bed is kinder to them then possible sharp rock edges

if you can get a rock thats slightly smaller than the base area of the coral, and then place it on that when the flesh expands its clear of the rock and thus not prone to damage IME

Rods food will get everything in the tank on feeding alert
    its definitely impressive
